I think most people just take houses for granted. They don’t realize all the work that goes into building one. I think it’s very interesting to see all of the steps involved. Good work Jim.
We have a new home going up in our neighborhood. They’ve been working on it for the last 2-3 months. It’s been fascinating to watch the progress … preparing the land, then putting up the framing, the siding, the roof — adding the electrical, the gas, the water, the windows, the doors, etc. … all the things that make a home but that we tend to take for granted when we’re living in one.
We have neighbors that built a house several years back in the lot through the trees in our backyard. We took pictures of the construction process as it was an unusual design….and we were a little nosy. These neighbors turned out to be an older, snooty couple who we don’t like. We do not speak to them and they just stare at everyone from their rockers as they drive by. They’ve never invited us in for a visit, but that’s okay. We already know what their house looks like from the inside. 🙂
I have some help. Son in law and a friend. We’re moving fast. Basically running for the next three months. Loving it though. It’s really coming out perfect
Grand. That looks like more than a full time Job. To be a carpenter is a grand skill. My hubby Ron has it, and I do not. I am stunned at what he can envision and can create. Me, I am great at holding boards and running for the next tool. Hugs
I have all the outside walls up now and half the interior done. Trusses are Wednesday and then roofing, siding, plumbing, and wiring. Be nice to work in the shade soon. I have the ultimate farmer tan now. Not to be confused with Uner Tan. Lol
Our land got subdivided when my friend bought it. It was interesting seeing the house next door being built. It was built sooo quickly, yet took ages to sell. Only now do we have new neighbors who moved in. Here’s hoping we get along 🙂

The speed is truly amazing. Honeycomb brick construction is the usual here and takes a whole lot longer.
