Since when did religion become so serious? Solving the problem of evil.

The idea that the universe has a specific agenda and demands Christian behavior is laughable, really. The tyrannical father figure of the cultural near-east governs the universe expecting certain liturgy from its inhabitants (he has opinions) that we must believe in him in his secrecy or be cast off forever, right where we came from just a few short years ago. Back to the void? Hardly

Imagine having never existed, that it all began here…and after you die—nothing. If that is the case it defies the laws of energy, as well as being an uncomfortable and strange feeling.

You, can never not be. This physical experience only identifies as unique because it is contrasted by our normal existence. When you identify with yourself, who and what you are, it is never the physical activity of muscles and blood flow, breathing and chewing that composes you. Those things are automatically done in the background, without thought.

What you are is this; an infinite participant in the only possible game in the universe to relieve eternal boredom. All the knowledge and skill in the entire cosmos is at our disposal. There are no surprises or guesses, no waiting or wondering for an everlasting creature with trillions of eons, owning all of everything, knowing all of everything. What would an infinite being (such as me) possibly do to relieve the boredom, to pass the time? Enter into a realm of not knowing.

This blip of mortal existence, only interesting at all for the mere fact we don’t know the outcome nor the beginning. Bookended by two unknown voids, we jump in knowing full well the misery and the fame, the chance and the luck, despair and delight, for every ending we break through to our normal existence, bam! we laugh our ass off because the game gets us every time.

Why else would the truly enlightened refuse to involve themselves in the rescue of human misery? All the worlds a stage. We are a never ending happening of a living universe. Little neurons getting a glimpse of ourselves and experiencing emotions we could never know in our regular boredom.

    1. It’s pretty obvious that no in the faith challenges the promises. They defend it because they only know the words, and cling their own weak faith.

      1. The churches I went to strongly encouraged repetition and memorization of verses. Basically it was more important to remember the words of the Bible and not the meaning or implications of the words. While encouraging that, they discouraged doubt, questioning of authority and dissention. They wanted to control what we thought and how we worshipped. I had my own thoughts. That’s probably why we broke up. 🙂

  3. What is life? That’s the only question that matters. Life doesn’t bow to matters of faith, it upholds the law of physics. Energy is the force that animates living things, life is the interaction of matter and energy. Life is the law of chemistry and physics which define and perpetuate our existence. Sigh

      1. I wish I was that clever, but I read those words in a student newspaper column in the late 1990s. The author attributed them to an unnamed high school friend who had recently passed away.

Once we fully embrace our minuscule little rock called Earth and our fragile mortality in this unimaginably gargantuan, hostile Cosmos that is known to be at least 93-billion light-years in diameter… it IS what it is.         1. HAH! Isn’t it! For the last 3-4 years I have been resisting and fighting against being FORCED to become a web company’s unpaid software engineer or HTML programmer for all social-media sites!!!! 😠🤬 Obviously I’m losing this fight. 😦

  6. Almost very book ever written was meant to be read page 1 numerically through to page n. Those books, such as the “I Ching” you can tell right away are meant to be read according to certain situations. The bible is the former, it reads like a story. Yet its readers insist on reading it by jumping page to page, verse to verse. Don’t you think if there was a god, it would be obvious how to read any book it wrote. The bible is no I Ching. Why must anyone try to force it to be!

    1. Don’t discuss I Ching around these parts. Christians are only supposed to know there is a Bible—and imposters we won’t talk about directly. That may spawn some unwarranted curiosity…

Oh, and how could I forget to promise never to again speak The Vedas, or the Bhagavad Gita.Oh, I have forgotten more books than I can remember. May the bishop forgive my faulty memory. How else can I swear not to name them unless I can name them first…

  8. Makes more sense than the Pentateuch. Penned a short story last year begins with a man dying only to wake on a giant spaceship and learning that very, very, very real life was an ancestor simulation.

    1. It’s highly likely that is what’s going on. I have a hard time dismissing EVERYBODY and their spiritual experience. The problem seems to lay in the men of words that tell us what these things mean. There are more valid ways of being in the world than institutionalized, prepackaged dogmas ready for your acceptance through consensus.

  9. Some reject religions but hold fast to deistical beliefs. Others cease such spiritual beliefs while continuing to sing with the choir and appear to dance to the dogma. That may be deceptive and shallow, but it works for them.

    1. We’ll keep going for the children. What’s interesting to me is this fact; that if you put away the urgency and the ideas you’re supposed to think as part of the group, there are some valid experiences and expressions that can be ordered without all the contradictions. Which in itself is the result of a poorly interpreted, poorly reasoned idea.

  10. Energy never dissipates, it changes form. The more I look at the tenets of faith and the empiricism of fact, the more I begin to have faith in the philosophical and now quantum theory that a universe cannot exist without consciousness entering into it.

    In Genesis, this is being created in an image. In Darwinian theory; this list exists underlying force matter has to transition form. Which is right or wrong, I think the matter of fact is that it all relies on the subjective form consciousness takes in creating the universe it inhabits. Great food for thought. As always, I enjoy the quandary into the eternal depths of Psyche (Greek for both soul and breath).

    1. Having one without the other is conundrical. Separating consciousness from universe, even attempts at recognizing one without the other has been a futile rabbit hole.

      1. Therefore, no consciousness can be wrong unless judgement begins to enter. This is a slippery slope when basic aspects of moral reasoning begins to exit the equation and one form of consciousness is deemed better, more factual, or more rational as it relates to our empirically inquisitive senses and the need for mind to make sense of something that never dissipates. Although we may not agree on some tenets, your articles always draw me to a deep level of hermeneutic inquiry, which serves to deepen my faith at a scientific and philosophical level, not only within the realm of the spiritual reasoning. Thank you for this great reminder.

The universe has a specific agenda but it is a Muslim agenda ,not a Christian one. Anyone familiar with the Koran knows this. “This book is not to be doubted.” Yep. That’s a mic drop if there ever was one. Can’t imagine why more Christians can’t get with the right program. Oh, well, that’s what hell’s for, after all. $Amen$

          2. It’s so difficult, if not impossible to carry out a conversation with people who have all the answers to life’s questions, i.e. religious nutters and the like. I don’t know how growth as a person can happen if one is always right and anyone disagreeing with what you think is right is always wrong. People like this become 2 dimensional characters to me, like the above mentioned Mr. Ham. Boggles my mind, really.

            1. The answers they parrot are not even their own, but what they’ve been sold by the institutionalized prepackaged dogmas that fall miserably short on developing human character. The bar is really low.

    1. Huh? Lol. I’ve just been trying to make some sense walking through the steps of what could be possible without contradicting myself. As always with you, I have homework. The idea that we can separate the universe and single out consciousness as a different property seems impossible since it appears to all be the same thing.

    1. According to our scientists- quote- ‘It turns out that roughly 68% of the universe is dark energy. Dark matter makes up about 27%. The rest – everything on Earth, everything ever observed with all of our instruments, all normal matter – adds up to less than 5% of the universe.’ That leaves a lot of room for the invisible to have a lot to say about what happens… Could that be why intelligent and sentient creatures can’t ever, really, shake the sense of the mystical, the mysterious, the unseen movers, etc.?

      1. yes, the matter in the universe is really minimum. they say it would all fit into a teaspoon. of course, they call it mystical for a reason: it is not matter. consciousness is something completely different.

            1. Although a very unpopular concept, I like to remind people that we exist, like it or not, under programming. It’s the only thing that can explain how man can be so incredibly stupid despite his intelligence; how he can launch out mindless into self-destrutive forays such as wars and genocides; how he can oppress and abuse 1/2 of his species through misogyny; how he can get rabidly hatefilled over something as insane as racism. Finally, how he can stand on the edge of his own extinction yet choose not to control his lusts for more of what is destroying the earth. Well, the simple answer is, programming. Something clicks in the mind, or the brain, and suddenly the unthinkable becomes the only possibility. Why would one man, say, want $50 billions for himself and not see how his “money” is creating injustice all around? We call that many things – psychopathy comes to mind – but that’s just a term for something that has no explanation… except programming. The kind of programming I speak of affects consciousness, activating some aspects, blocking others and creating hosts of unnatural drives. As I said, not a popular thought; man wants so much to believe that he is autonomous and is responsible for all his choices. If he was, how could he not be utterly condemned for his acts if he is truly responsible for all of them???

            2. It’s been a long road to go nowhere. Couple this with out ability to make decisions that seem completely reasonable that take every one of us somewhere we never thought we would be. Very, very few are where they thought they would be based on what road they took. Great comment. I never saw that coming. Hahaha.
