I spent the weekend at the Spokane Arena watching a dozen basketball games.

It is well established here that the private schools in the US suck the the best athletic talent from the public school system. Wellpinit and Neah Bay’s state championships last night was Rezball taking on Goliaths, with the boys beating a 9 time state champion Christian school at the actual game. 12 Native American kids from the Rez, beating a rigged system with the actual game of basketball, playing kids from their own little community to topple a dynasty.

IMO, the best win in WIAA history! Hoosiers step aside —I hope someone makes a movie out of this This is what happens when the “underprivileged” decide to saddle-up and become great.

Wellpinit Redskins. 25-0 undefeated season boys state champions.

Neah Bay Red Devils. 22-1 Girls state champions.

Two Native American teams from nowhere-land did it with Incredible tenacity! It was a privilege to watch you both play.

Rites of Passage

Hope is the lowest level of the awakening state.

The next step is developing a faith that your hope will produce results.

Finally there is knowing. Knowing comes from applying faith and achieving the desired results.

We are currently screwed. Forever stuck in faith—no evidence—no desired outcomes—merely a false sense of enlightenment while the world still fights—that, is strongly evidenced. Divided we stand at the exit door of beliefs, waiting for the promises to arrive. We did all those things, now we near the end of the ride bewildered.

Is it too late to trade for a different model, or do we cling to time wasted like a cherished life-lesson in mediocrity?

Religion has closed off the rights of passage by turning the middle phase to the pinnacle of religious experience. Faith is merely a waypoint, not a destination, now forever stuck in the initiation phase—and the arrival at nothing. A true religion would prepare its members to be independent, to be real men and women of accomplishment through Weyekin, a vision quest, or a meaningful journey to test their readiness.

Even our children in this western culture have no defining moments of passage. They simply sit and slowly osmose their way to adulthood by navigating hoops in a system of baseless protections in nothing but belief, accepting disappointment as their fathers did, for god is testing their faith by cheating us from the final phase.

Now the test is to believe failure is endemic of gods will for humanity.

The Native American Before Christian Spoil

A first-hand recount of William Penn from 1687, telling of his interactions with the natives.

“But what is most striking in Penns delineation of the Indians character, is the often repeated eulogy of the Indians natural piety. Again and again he dwells on the fact that the Indian shames the Christian in the sincerity of his religious belief and the correctness of his moral conduct”.

Describing the frugal meal that satisfies them, “pumpkin without butter or spice, the bare ground for a table, shells for spoons and leaves of the forest for plates”, he winds up exclaiming, “these wild men who never in their life heard Christs teaching of temperance and contentment, herein far surpass the Christian”

Ten years later he goes on again with his praises; “They live far more contented and unconcerned for the morrow than we Christians. They do not over-reach in trade. They know nothing of our everlasting pomp and stylishness. They neither curse nor swear, are temperate in food and drink, and if any of them get drunk, the fault of the Christians for the sake of accursed lucre”.

They intentionally liquored the Indians to cheat them. Even as absolute surety demonstrated the Indian surpassed them in every way as human beings, they still sought them to Christ as the only way of true living. It most certainly is not, but may soon become such through attrition—our course is set.

He said; “meanwhile, we use the wild man for day labor and gradually acquire their language and make them acquainted with the teachings of Christ”—1687

The arrogance of monotheism and the conceit of faith is not a virtue. We have little hope but a Herculean breakthrough of some type or another. It won’t come by belief, but by uncultured minds that don’t yet know it’s not possible.

Catholicism is a Miracle

Scoop tells me that 1.3 billion Catholics growing from a group of 12 men is a miracle. (see comment) Yes, it’s a miracle in the same way that all of North Korea worships Kim Jung Il.

Adopted as a state religion then, about 400 CE the heralded St. Augustine, Bishop of Hippo authorized the use of force as a missionary tool using this scripture; “And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled”—Luke 14:23

God works in mysterious ways. The next 1400 years (well into the 20th century) it was believe or suffer their wrath wherever they planted their flag. Here locally, the Colville Native American children were rounded up throughout the territory and compelled to Catholic education. Those that escaped Fort Spokane were captured by the Calvary and incarcerated in solitary confinement, had their shoes confiscated, and endured physical torture. It’s a friggin miracle!

How is it catholics can claim any benevolence at all at this point is beyond reason. The most corrupt organization on earth, is god working his miracles through torture.

Scoop also tells me on one hand, Gods judgment is overdue because of the wickedness and sodomites, then tells me it’s the safest time in history to be alive. Coincidentally, it is also the most secular time in history to be alive. Coincidence? I think not.

Sounds like the humanist-pig natives lost this round. Columbus wrote “the natives are so naïve and so free with their possessions that no one who has not witnessed them would believe it. When you ask for something they have, they never say no. To the contrary, they offer to share with anyone.”

He also wrote,

“I believe that they would easily be made Christians, because it seemed to me that they had no religion.”

They also threw religion at their feet and forced them to comply or die.They stripped them of their heritage and language and families, and stole all that was left of their land and resources. It amazes me that there is one Native American or African Native Christian on the entire planet that carries on in this belief system that destroyed their beautiful ways of life. It is beyond me. I’ve had this question on the back burner for several years. Long before I was an atheist it amazed me how enthusiastically the black and native communities embrace Christianity. Why? How was this done?

The Requermiento, a document that offered the Indians a choice between salvation and slavery, helped the Spanish “benevolently” force various Indian groups into the missions. The basic mission plan for Catholic missionaries followed a structure repeated by later groups and based on Sir Thomas More’s Utopia, which outlined a plan for Christian communities. Mission life revolved around and resembled rural European Christianity as much as possible, creating communities of Indians who ate, slept, and worked under the aegis of Christianity. Most missions had compulsory attendance at matins and masses, required all able bodies to work within the mission, and set up systems of governance using the patriarchal family as a model. Every day, Indians went to matins, worked in the fields, went back to church, worked in the fields, and then went home to a system where fathers and men ruled and met as councils, mimicking European societies more than biblical ones.

Essentially by eliminating the non compliant, it turned into generational compliance by remaining natives. Why are they still in it? And particularly, why are African Americans still in it so strongly? We all know their history here.
